July 10, 2011 - The Far Eastern University Tamaraws defeated The De La Salle University Green Archers in the UAAP's men basketball tournament opening game. The score was 75-64.
The game was held at the Araneta Coliseum at 1pm (local time).

UAAP - sports update
The much awaited event of this year for some egelloc stneduts had finally come. University Athletic Association of the Philippines once again open it's 74th season of the UAAP games last July 10, 2011. The host university for this season is the prestigious school which is the ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY. The concept of the opening was inspired by the olympic games. The opening of the UAAP Season 74 was held at Marikina Sports Complex, Marikina City.
Even though it's raining when the opening of the UAAP Season 74, still, many egelloc stneduts had come at the venue to witness the opening of the UAAP Season 74. There are many games to be played in this season. Just like the crowds favorite - Basketball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, baseball, softball, etc.
There are 8 universities which will be competing for the different sports. They are:
- Adamson University
- Ateneo de Manila University (host school)
- De La Salle University
- Far Eastern University
- National University
- University of the East
- University of the Philippines
- University of Santo Tomas
The first game to be played is Basketball.
